Just Zones is a heart-rate zone analysis app for iPhone. This page explains what data it reads, what stays on your device, and what the third-party services it uses receive.
Just Zones reads workout and heart-rate data from Apple Health (HealthKit) — workouts, heart-rate samples, resting heart rate, workout routes (location), and swimming distance and stroke counts — to compute your time-in-zone charts. This data is read on-device only and processed on-device only. Just Zones never uploads your Health data to any server of ours, and it does not write anything back to Health. The single exception is the place name described below. Zone settings you enter yourself (max heart rate, resting heart rate, LTHR, age, zone boundaries) are stored locally on your device as app settings, not in Health.
Just Zones has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no backend server of its own.
To show a place name next to a workout, Just Zones takes the first location point of that workout's route and sends it to Apple's geocoding service (Apple Maps), which returns the name of the place. Only that one point is sent, once per workout; nothing else from the route or from Health is included. The place name is saved on your device so it does not need to be looked up again. Nothing is sent to us. Apple handles the request under Apple's own privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy.
Just Zones uses Firebase Crashlytics, a service from Google, to receive crash reports so problems can be fixed. When the app crashes, Crashlytics receives a crash log along with your device model, OS version, and an anonymous installation identifier. This does not include any of your Health data. The one-time Pro unlock is processed through RevenueCat, which receives purchase and App Store receipt information along with an anonymous app user identifier, used to check and restore your Pro entitlement. If you choose "Share" when Just Zones asks, or turn on Settings › Data & privacy › Share usage data, the app sends Google Analytics for Firebase which screens you open, onboarding steps, whether the purchase screen was shown and how a purchase or restore ended, and which features you use, together with device model, OS version, app version and a random app-instance identifier; Google also derives an approximate location (country or city) from your IP address, and Firebase records in-app purchases (product and price) automatically. It never sends Health data or anything derived from it: no heart rate, zones, durations, routes, places or Health access status. No advertising identifier (IDFA) is collected and advertising features are off. If you don't agree, nothing is sent. You can turn it off at any time in Settings; turning it off stops sending and resets the identifier. See Google's Firebase privacy policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Just Zones keeps no data on any server of ours, so deleting the app deletes your local Just Zones data, including zone settings, saved place names and its local cache.
